Is there an operational altitude limit for the HyperDrive?

Yes. All hard drives require a certain amount of air below the disk platter to cushion and support them while they are spinning. The amount of air becomes thinner/decreases as altitude increases.

Generally, the hard drive inside a HyperDrive has the following altitude limits:

Operating: 3,000 meters (10,000 feet)
Non-operating (Storage): 12,000 meters (40,000 feet)
